Hello! Happy New Year! I truly can’t believe it is January and it’s 2019. Somehow 2018 flew by and I am not exactly sure how it all happened so fast. I slacked BIG time with the blog and for that I apologize. It has been a major challenge for me to try and juggle it all but I am determined to make my blog a priority this year. After all it is where Style Notes by Belen was born. I need to find a good balance between designing, running our businesses, taking care of the house, Alejandro, the dogs + the funny farm, having a social life and me time. The Belen team is growing and I am so happy to not only expand the team but to have more help! I have never been one to make resolutions because let’s be real I wouldn’t stick to them because life happens and we are all just trying to do our best every day. I do however want to do “More of and less of” list. I think this is a much more realistic approach and a better way to check in with myself. So let’s give this a world wind shall we?

-Meditating– This HAS TO HAPPEN, my anxiety is at a high and I need to get it under control.

-Host Dinner Parties- I LOVE to host parties so this year I want to host dinner parties at least every other month. Especially during Summer time!

Be more adventures- I am SO type A and need everything to be planned/in control and I am making this a big priority this year. Just be more spontaneous and have F U N. Like go to a concert on a Tuesday night type of fun.

Road Trips – I have been telling Alejandro for probably 5 years now that we need to go to Big Sur and we never go. This year it IS happening and we are going.

Grow a vegetable garden– Okay this has also been something I have been wanting to do forever and never take the time to do it. If I am being honest I need someone to do it for me but the point is I want one and I want to grow it in my backyard.

Limit Social Media– Now this is a conflict of interest because I need to be on Social Media for work but I need to find a balance because this shit can be TOXIC and for real cause anxiety and in my case einheiten it. I have been limiting myself lately and It has been amazing. After work hours the phone stays in my bedroom (for the most part). I want to enjoy myself and be in the moment more and not feel like A) I need to give a play by play of what I am doing 24/7 and B) Feel like I am missing out on something because we all know I am all about JOMO (joy of missing out) anyways.

Learn new recipes– I feel like I make the 5 same recipes weekly. I am dying to learn how to make cacio e pepe and now that Ale likes to bake I am tricking him into learning how to make cacio e pepe with me.

Go to the Ocean weekly– I am a water baby at heart and being by the ocean not only is incredibly therapeutic but NECESSARY for me. We are so lucky to live 20 min from Malibu and I have always dreamed living close to the ocean and now that I do and don’t go as often as I would like/need to.

Complaining – or as Alejandro so nicely puts it nagging.

Excuses – Sometimes I can find a million and one.

Negativity – It happens to the best of us but nothing and I mean nothing comes from it.

Worrying – when I was a kid my mom always used to say to me : ” you are such a worry wart Belen”. I am constantly worried and it truly is an awful state to be in all the time. I need to remind myself more of one of my favorites quotes from one of the greatest film of all time Van Wilder ” worrying is like a rocking chair it gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere”. TRUTH.

Comparison– it’s human nature to compare sometimes but there’s truly no value in it whatsoever.

That is it for now! I would love to know what you would like More of/Less of in 2019. I wish you all a healthy, successful and happy new year and I very much look forward to connecting with you guys on here!
